State Bank of India is the leading public sector bank of India. Working for this institution is not only an immensely learning experience but also a great privilege in itself. Recently the State Bank of India has released SBI PO Recruitment 2018 notification in which total 2000 vacancies are announced.

Any eligible candidate, who aspires to join State Bank of India as a Probationary Officer, is required to complete the Recruitment Process. Usually, SBI conducts the examination in three phases in order to carry out the complete recruitment process. The three steps that SBI follows for the recruitment are as follows:

1. Online Preliminary Examination (Objective Test).

2. Online Mains Examination (Objective Test and Descriptive Test).

3. Group Exercises and Personal Interview.

Fee Details:

Candidates need to submit fee along with the application form. For General and others fee amount is Rs. 600/- (plus transaction fees) while for SC/ ST/ PWD it is Rs. 100/- (plus transaction fees).

Selection Procedure:

Preliminary examination is qualifying in nature. The marks obtained in the Preliminary Examination will not be added for preparing the final merit list for selection. Only the marks obtained in Main Examination, both in Objective Test and Descriptive Test will be added to the marks obtained in GE & Interview for preparing the final merit list. The candidates will have to qualify both in Main Exam and Group Exercises separately. Marks secured by the candidates in the Main Examination (out of 250 marks) are converted to out of 75 and marks secured in Group Exercises & Interview (out of 50 marks) are converted to out of 25. The final merit list is arrived at after aggregating converted marks of Main Examination and Group Exercises & Interview out of 100. The selection will be made from the top merit ranked candidates in each category. Results of the candidates who qualify for Main Examination and Group Exercise & Interview as well as the final select list will be made available on the Bank's website.

SBI PO Eligibility Criteria:

(A)  Essential Academic Qualifications: (AS ON 31.08.2018):

Graduation in any discipline from a recognized University or any equivalent qualification recognized as such by the Central Government. Those who are in the Final year/ Semester of their Graduation may also apply provisionally subject to the condition that, if called for interview, they will have to produce proof of having passed the graduation examination on or before 31.08.2018. Candidates having integrated dual degree (IDD) certificate should ensure that the date of passing the IDD is on or before 31.08.2018. Candidates possessing qualification of Chartered Accountant may also apply.


(B)   Age Limit: (As on 01.04.2018):

Not below 21 years and not above 30 years as on 01.04.2018 i.e. candidates must have been born not later than 01.04.1997 and not earlier than 02.04.1988 (both days inclusive)

Relaxation of Upper age limit is provided in some cases like SC/ST, Person with Disabilities, ex-service men etc. A list of the same is provided below:

1. Preliminary Exam Pattern

1.a  General Information:

  • Mode of Exam: The exam will be conducted through CBT (Computer Based Test).
  • Duration: The exam duration will be 1 hour.
  • Type of Question: Questions will be Objective Type (Multiple Choice and Reason-Assertion type).
  • No. of Question: Total 100 questions will be asked in the examination.
  • Language: Question paper will be provided in English.
  • Marking Scheme: One mark will be given for each correct answer.
  • Negative Marking: 1/4th will be deducted for incorrect answer.

2.a  General Information:

Type of Question: Questions will be both of Objective Type (Multiple Choice and Reason-Assertion type) and Descriptive Test.

No. of Question: Total 155 questions will be asked in the examination.

Language: Question paper will be provided in English.

Negative Marking: 1/4th will be deducted for incorrect answer.


Descriptive Test:

The Descriptive Test duration 30 minutes with a score of 50 marks. This test is conducted to test the writing skills of candidates via Letter Writing & Essay Writing.
